Living Vs. Existing…

You know it really must grieve the heart of God to see how we seem to continually settle for an average, mediocre life. This is a trap we can fall into so easily!

In the Bible in Isaiah 43:18 – God gives us some great advice – forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the dessert, and a stream in the wasteland.

You know it really is God’s desire for us to always be living in the new thing he is doing, but so often we miss it because we are consumed by either the mistakes or successes of our past. We spend our lives either living in guilt and shame, feeling unworthy of God’s help and unable to even look heavenward. Or we live in the nostalgia of the past, romancing our great successes and victories.

Either way we end up unable to see the new thing that God is doing right under our very noses because our gaze is in the wrong direction.

So we settle for existence rather than living and we never experience the feeling of God leading us out of the dessert or putting streams in our wasteland. A great man of God once suggested we live life this way in forget what is behind & press on toward the goal for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14).

Friends, we can’t live in the past – this leads us into existence. We can only live in the now out of the revelation of our Future!! Isaiah 42:9

We would do well to approach each day with a clean slate, no agenda of our own rising out of our past success or failure. Just come as an inquisitive soul looking to His maker for the next leg of the journey of this great adventure called life!
Then live life to the max!
The future awaits those who can learn the art of letting go!
